Progressive Health Specializes in... Specialists!

Did you know that according to a 2019 case study published in the journal JAMA International Medicine, mortality rates are lower in U.S. counties with more primary care providers? The more primary care providers (PCPs) in a region, the longer people live. The same cannot be said about specialists.

And not all specialists are created equal.

Your PCP can have an enormous impact on your health. Unlike most specialists, your primary care provider promotes health and well-being by treating the whole person. Since we are the only lifestyle medicine practice around, we are generally the only one who tries to help treat the root cause of diseases or to prevent them in the first place.

In our 20 years of primary care in Delaware, we have worked with hundreds of specialists. So we have a pretty good idea who is likely to be the most helpful.

So when you find yourself in the need to specialist, the best place to start is with us.

Another problem that can arise with specialists is what we call “polyspecialist”. Medical authorities widely regard “polypharmacy” (being on too many medicines), as being harmful. Polyspecialist is the same thing - seeing so many specialists that you can experience harm. How can specialists (or any doctor) cause harm? By doing too many studies, too many procedures, or giving too many medicines. Too many specialists can be like too many cooks.

At Progressive Health, we are experts in helping people remove both medicines and specialists that are no longer needed. As your PCP, we can handle a vast number of health conditions quite effectively. Unlike most docs, we can even treat the root cause of MANY diseases.

If you would like to reduce your medicines or specialists, or if you want to reduce the money or the time that you must spend on doctor visits, check in with your provider at Progressive Health. We are eager to help!
