Forks Over Knives is a health-changing film

Forks Over Knives, more than any film I have encountered, has the power to save lives. Why would I say this?

I read a lot of health books and I listen to a lot of health podcasts. More than any other book, film, or website, people cite Forks Over Knives as the turning point of their health. I have seen, heard, or read at least a dozen health luminaries report that it was the day they watched this film that their life changed (for the better).

One such luminary was Ken Beckman, an actuary in Nebraska. He saw the film, changed his diet, and proceeded to lose 30 pounds and keep it off. His cholesterol dropped 50 points and his blood pressure dropped 20 points. These are typical benefits of those who watch the film.

Beckman and his firm mailed a copy of Forks Over Knives to 500 of their health beneficiaries. In the 10 months that followed, those who received the DVD experienced a 5% reduction in health claims, whereas a matched control group who were not sent the film experienced a 6% increase in health claims over the same period. Recipients who responded to receive a free book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, saw a drop of 20% in claims.

Forks Over Knives is sufficiently factual, that it has been accredited for Continuing Medical Education for doctors and other health professionals.

How could 1 film have such a life-changing effect on people? To find out, I encourage you to watch this film (free on Netflix or at the library), or come watch it with us!

CORRECTION: We will show Forks Over Knives on Saturday January 5th, 2019, 7pm at the First Unitarian Church, in the first floor sanctuary.
